This seems to work great for me now:
defaultread CP437
read ibmpc UTF-8 437_u8.chs
read cp437 UTF-8 437_u8.chs
read cp1125 UTF-8 1125_u8.chs
read cp850 UTF-8 850_u8.chs
read cp865 UTF-8 865_u8.chs
read cp866 UTF-8 866_u8.chs
read koi8-r UTF-8 koi8_u8.chs
read latin-1 UTF-8 iso1_u8.chs
read latin-9 UTF-8 850_u8.chs
read UTF-8 UTF-8
readalias iso-8859-1 LATIN-1
readalias iso-8859-15 LATIN-9
defaultpost UTF-8
post * UTF-8

Oddly enough, I didn't. I didn't have one set for Golded either, so I didn't
take that JamNNTPd setting into account. After setting this though, all line
and box drawing are translated properly now! Now to see if there's an
equivalent setting in Golded to do the same thing.. :)
Thanks for pointing that out, it did exactly what I needed!

Nick
