One of the things that I like about the Open Source OS's is the ability to
run the same app on various OS's.

  ./configure
  make
  make install

The configure step takes care of the OS differences.

So I started out on Linux, switched to OpenBSD for some stuff, and switched
to FreeBSd for other stuff. Yet I can run the same apps on all three OS's.
