Hey Kai! Sep 04 18:23 06, Kai Richter wrote to Felipe T. Dorado: KR> He is the boss of his system and there is no default. Right. Well put. KR> If you already have it. I need binkd on the node for the uplink to there but also that same machine has ftpd since it needs it to distribute to the rest of the nonFido world and thus the points off that node have a choice. Given that ftp is far more important then it makes sense for me as a point, who also requires a ftp client in order to get what I want, to use the ftp service on the main worldly connected box and let it worry about Fido hubs which are few and getting fewer. Also I've been using ftp for longer then there have been Fido nodes on the internet so I got used to doing all file transfers that way as well as ftp being far more reliable then internetted Fido nodes/hubs/etc. They (binkd and simular) can't compete, or at least not by using apps meant for single line local dialup. Far too unreliable on the internet for many, many good reasons.
