I understand that. It was just a suggestion. If you're having no
trouble with the buffer set to 14, leave it. Should you run into
problems, though, you might consider lowering it.
I can't imagine why the DTE speed is not being returned with a W1
selection. W2 should return the DTE speed, but not the error
correction information and so on. Getting that information is not
critical to the comm program operation, though, so you might be
better off using W2.
It certainly sounds like the modem is wonked, though. :-(
