In the subsequent log files, I believe this generated a bad user database. To (re)generate the user databasea run max with only a '-c' option. (i.e. 'bin/max -c'). This can cause Max to seg fault.... Based on subsequent messages, it looks like you cleared up the user databasea and the compile mex code issues. Take care.....
