Trev, this is probably an oft'asked question, but with 1.79, what exactly
does one do if one already has a fully operational BBS with 1.73? Obviously,
one would not want to use the files in OMAK for that. Is Opus 1.79 a simple
dropin? I tried looking for a readme file which would explain how to upgrade
existing 1.73 boards, but didn't see it in any of the new files.
I was also looking for a file that would be tantamount to a "new features"
list for 1.79, for experienced 1.73 sysops, but can't find one of those,
either... Would be nice to find such a list, and brief descriptions how to
impliment those features to an existing 1.73 setup (once the 1.79 opus.exe is
in place, of course.)
Also, has the userfile changed in *any* way? I have to know this because I
have a program here called TABS (the 900 number service) which allows people
to do instant priv upgrades online. When a caller runs TABS, they input a 7
digit code to the program (which they get via voice by calling a certain 900
number), and when given a valid code, TABS goes out and updates several
fields in USER.DAT. (Actually, it changes some fields in the LASTUS00.DAT
file, which, when that person jumps back into Opus, are read back into the
real USER.DAT file.) The utility was custom written by True Media in
Florida, who offers the 900 number upgrade service, to be used with Opus
1.73a's user files. I provided them with the Opus structure files and sample
lastuser.dat and user.dat files. It was a pain for them to code becuase
Opus's user file is a btrieve type flle, binary, and a pain to work with).
Anyhow, If there are any changes to field locations or lengths in USER.DAT,
then the current TABS utility won't work. I don't want to upgrade until I
know everything is the same.
Please let me know...
