I had NW4.11 server installed on one of my systems. Recently, I had to
buy a new HD & shuffle partitions around on my system to accomodate
various OS's. This means I had to delete the NW 4.11 partition &
reinstall it. I did so, then applied Service pack IWSP6A. Previously,
I was using IWSP5B.

Later, I installed NWIP & NIAS packages from the original installation
disks, & applied the service pack, IWSP6A, again. Next, I attempted to
configure NIAS so my client system could use the modem on my server to
connect to my ISP. I followed a set of insructions I had downloaded
from Novell's web site
(http://developer.novell.com/research/appnotes/1998/april/04/05.htm)
nearly a year ago. The final phase of these instructions was entitled
"Binding TCP/IP to the WAN interface." The first five steps in the
instructions proceeded with no problems & are as follows:

(NOTE: INETCFG.NLM has already been loaded at this point)
1. Select "Binding" from the main menu.
2. Press to create a new binding for your interface.
3. Select "TCP/IP" from the list of configured protocols & press
.
4. Select "Network Interface" from the "Bind To" menu & press .

5. Select the Network interface you created earlier & press .
(Earlier I had created a new Board using the WHSMAIO driver which I
named, simply,
MODEM, then configured the WAN interface for this board. I selected
the
    corresponding interface here.)

At this point, the instructions explain that the type of binding to use
depends upon the type of configuration employed by my ISP. These
configurations are Numbered Single Point-to-Point, Unnumbered
Point-to-Point, & Dynamic. Since my ISP uses dynamic addressing, I
chose Dynamic. The instructions go on to say, "Under 'Remote Router
will Dynamically Assign the IP Address', set the field to No." I could
NOT find this option available anywhere. I tried selecting Numbered
Single Point-to-Point & Unnumbered Point-to-Point from the previous menu
as well, for the instructions said to set this option to "Yes" in those
cases. This option was not available for these configurations either.

Before reinstalling NW 4.11, these services were running fine. I
remember configuring these items as insturcted & was able to set the
"Remote Router will Dynamically Assign the IP Address" the last time I
did this. Why is this option not available in this case? Do versions
of the appropriate files in the IWSP6A service pack not include this
option? If so, I cannot find the previous service pack on Novell's web
site. It seems they only offer the latest version. Could I be leaving
out a step or not configuring something properly prior to this point?

Again, the instructions I am following can be found at
http://developer.novell.com/research/appnotes/1998/april/04/05.htm.

Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Michael E. Mall
