For sure.  However I did manage to get a ~130M gcc (c only) system put
together for 64-bit ttylinux development put together yesterday.  I can
trim it down now that it is built by packaging up the tools I'll need and
leaving out the ones that were only needed to build it in the first place. 
I think I better back it up first as is so I won't have to jusmp through
that hoop again if I need to.

I did ~10 years ago when it mattered.  Worked great for all sorts of things.

He is currently having issues with Debian.  I looked at some of their
kernel headers and they are in worse shape then I am in that regard - or at
least in the 'cutting edge' department.  Good to see that I am not the only
one experiencing the identical problem.
