Damon,
DAG> Yeah my problem hasn't been getting the messages; it's been getting the t
DAG>in this particular terminal to respond to them. I know that there were qui
DAG>few going back and forth with Nancy and I for awhile. Always glad to get s
DAG>extra input. :)
I don't do a much work with the BBS as I used to...including playing
the doors. But, I'm in the process of making a software switch from
Virtual Advanced to GT Power. The work isn't hard, but it sure is
tedious.
DAG> Ack. Yeah I just try to stay away from Microsoft in general. The amount
DAG>resources that are used there, and the product that's being paid for... We
DAG>I don't mind other people doing it, but it's not my choice. ;)
The only thing I use Internet Explorer for is Windows Update.
Otherwise, I use Google Chrome.
DAG> I have looked a little longingly at Synchronet's 'doze GUI, though, for
DAG>awhile. At some point I may end up trying to set up Synchronet on Windows
DAG>VM just for the heck of it. I basically only operate Windows if I'm using
DAG>Virtual Studio, though.
Rob Swindell (aka Digital Man) just released version 3.16 of
Synchronet.
DAG> Smoke here from wildfires today. Visibility at the airport was said to b
DAG>statute miles. I'm guessing that hasn't been updated for awhile, I'd be
DAG>surprised if that'd hold to a test right now. It's hazy and yellow out and
DAG>smells pretty thick of wildfire.
DAG> Rain would be a good thing. :)
I pass a lot of weather related traffic via amateur radio...and I've
been dubbed "The Jim Cantore Of D-Star". Jim Cantore is one of the
meteorologists with The Weather Channel...and D-Star is a digital mode
of amateur radio. But, unlike Jim Cantore...
1) I'm an amateur weather enthusiast (not a meteorologist), but I know
enough to be dangerous.
2) I have a full head of hair...although I've kept it short during the
hot summer.
3) I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night (LOL).
DAG> Do storms knock out your power pretty regularly there?
Florida may be the lightning capital of the world, but at times, I
dare say that Arkansas is a close second.
With one episode of storms, in a 12 hour period, 25,000 lightning
strikes were recorded across Arkansas. In a 1 hour period during that
time, in Pulaski County (Little Rock), there were over 500 lightning
strikes!! One of those hit a power substation in west Little Rock,
putting much of the western part of the city in the dark for several
hours.
