From: "Adam Flinton"
OK on *ix based OS'es but then that does tend to close down the options
beyond evolutionary change. e.g. is something revolutionary like BeOS is
capable of also running those same apps (e.g no X etc)?
I don't want to be dependant upon any single OS. A world with say Win32/64
{at} say 25%, linux at say 40 % but then a number of other choices filling the
remainder would be my preference (but then I don't make hardware or write
drivers for it).
Then again I'd also like to see kick ass PPC chips (so we're not all intel
x86 based) available along with clone Mobo's but thanks to Mr Jobs......I
like this:
http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=2280
but at then end of the day it's up to IBM/Moto to produce some serious PPC
chips. I think they could (along with AMD) beat Intel to the 64 bit market
but then it's a matter of how much 64 bit will matter & by when (look
at the time between the 386 release & 32 bit software becoming
prevalent).
