Hi, Sam.
SE>>Thanks for the vote of confidence, Anne.
Don't mention it. I have been impressed from the beginning with
the thoughtfulness of your posts.
SE>>-> As for the criteria, if you and Sam want me to post a recap of what
SE>>-> Rick and I had arranged, I will be glad to do so. It wasn't so much
SE>>-> where the material came from but what it was topic-wise.
SE>>I'd be happy to see whatever you have. Post it here or send
SE>>it to me by email.
Basically it was that I would never cross-post general chatter from
comp.os.geos that was between users or between users and GWREPS in
a casual way or ongoing conversations about what people wanted to see
in the way of apps and so forth. You know, the kind of stuff we
chatter about here that was written by the users posting there.
But anything that was "semi-official" type stuff by a GWREP (Steve Main,
etc.) explaining the company's position on something or giving a
target date for something (the 2.01 patch information was one I
brought over here when it was first mentioned) was permissible.
The synopses of the Rotundas that were posted there were the prime
cross-post, but I don't believe that is done any more on comp.os.geos.
Do you know? Also the excellent FAQs that Ron Frye and Willie Beegle
wrote at different times were brought in here. I may still have one or
both of them stored somewhere here in the computer. Shall I look for
them? Tips on how to do something specific with Ensemble to solve a
problem were fodder for this grist mill as were copies of press releases
and announcements and reviews like the one you uploaded by Helmar
recently about the smart phones.
SE>>I have never actually cross-posted one of Helmar's "tirades" to
SE>>this echo.
I know that.
SE>>I have purposely left out his incendiary musings.
I noticed, yes I did, and I was very glad to see you exercising that
restraint, difficult though I am sure it was for you at times.
That's one of the types of messages that Rick and I had agreed was not
a permissible cross-post. He didn't want to have the antagonisms in
this echo that are found in unmoderated newsgroups on the Internet.
SE>>It is not my intention to fan flames. I know that you and
SE>>Chris already understand this. I mention it again for the benefit
SE>>of lurkers and anyone else who might have stumbled into this thread.
Yes, of course, I know that, and so does Chris, and I agree you were
wise to mention it for the benefit of the lurkers.
SE>>Thanks again for your friendly comments,
You're a friendly guy, so it's easy to write friendly to you.
As I said before, Sam, if you ever find that you can't monitor the
newsgroup for a week or so (any less than that isn't worth making
a temporary change in cross-poster) and know it in advance, just let
me know here or by e-mail (anne.page@psl.-online.com) and I'll do
it until you are able. If something happens to your Fido feed, just
e-mail me, and I'll get the stuff and upload it and e-mail you copies
of what I upload here.
