Yeah, and a real nuisance too. The anoying thing was that Linux was
supposed to be able to talk to that controller card :-(

MS-DOS and OS/2 will only assign the partition a drive letter if they can
recognise the file format. Since neither of them can, the Linux partition
won't be assigned one and it won't affect your drive mappings.

The only one I know of that I know of is the one that sits in the MBR.
While this does allow you to boot different partitions, I didn't try doing
that.



From memory it assumed that you always wanted to boot a specific partition
unless you held down a certain key (shift or control or something) while
booting. It then gave you a choice of which partition to boot.
