Yes I had this problem with my oldest son. Now 11. We tried everything.
I felt if I had to spend 4 hours on homework or more a nite then I mite
as well do it myself. This way he will at least get a break.
AH> She is a very bright child who marches to the beat of her own drummer.
AH> The prob;lem is that it's not the schools drummer. In fact, sometimes I

Some children like my oldest do not function in a standard educational
environment. My son was extremely depressed in school. During the summer
you can see a really big change. If he was going back it would start all
over again. He needs a classroom that travels his own pace. That is partly
what homeschooling is about. To give the children a chance to learn in a
more relaxed, at your own pace atmosphere. This is going to be my first
year at homeschooling. My feedback from others have been they tend to
learn more and faster due to the relaxed and one to one atmosphere.
My second child doesn't know whether he wants homeschooling or not. Like
yours, yes one minute, no the next. But they are beginning to get excited
as I will be using the computer too. They even asked me to help wash the
walls (which they actually did help) so we could hang the maps and eraser
board up.
My third child is gifted (I believe) she should be a cinch to teach. They
wanted to know yesterday that if they know all their stuff in their grade
level if they could go to the next grade level in the same school year.
This is exciting me as I see motivation starting to develop.
