subject: Sub Transducers

The sub transducers you saw in Damarks catalog are indeed used in
Home Theater applications. In fact there is an outfit that has a "high end"
transducer that was recently reviewed briefly in Home Theater magazine. The
pair cost over a grand ($1,000 US) and were attached to 12 inch plexiglass
disks that bolted or screwed to floor joists or furniture.
The reviewer chuckled at the idea before he tried them, but in the
end really liked the effect. I would imagine they would be especially
effective in a small listening area with smaller or lesser powered systems or
for systems lacking big subs. The Damark price seems a lot closer to what I
would pay to have something "vibrate my butt for effect" than the high-end
models.
The Home Theater reviewer said that he could no longer take exception
with critics that accused him of doing his critical listening for reviews
with his rear end. 8-) Really cute review though.
Cheers, John
