CM> HmmMMm, I just saw a show not to long ago about a few who
CM> have done such things. One idiot was telling tale of how
CM> he was holding his buddies guts in his hands over ten miles
CM> back to camp etc, etc,. and was exposed while he was giving
CM> his false account in front of a whole hall of Veterans. He
CM> was a clerk typist in an army typing pool, and was there
CM> cause he failed to qualify on the M-16 etc,.
Larry Lawrence, at the least, wasn't the usual "wannabe"
[or more correctly - "wanttohave beens". They seem to
cluster around the Medal of Honor recipients and, more
recently, the SEALS. However, it's becoming more and more
difficult to pass since 1) the pool of MoH recipients is
shrinking and well known to each other and 2) the SEALS are
actively pursuing and exposing "wannabe's". They've set up
a database of all SEAL classes and members of each class.
Anyone can call in and check to see if a certain indiviual
was in a specific class.
Lawrence is unusual in that 1) he aimed no higher than the
Merchant Marine and 2) that apparently wasn't the *only*
fraudulent item in his CV. NIGHTLINE(?) was unable to find
any record of his attendance at, and lettering in football
at, the University of Arizona as claimed.
CM> I am a gulf war vet, and have the DD Form 214 to prove it,
CM> and four layer rack of ribbons, all which don't really
CM> amount to a whole lot other than I've done a good job. I
CM> only served for less than ten years, a short while, but I
CM> am still very pound of what I was able to do.
You've earned the right to be so. Thanks for your service
to our country.
