I'm pretty sure this software is using what's commonly known as the "Fringe" set of Zernike polynomials. Ordering is the same as on the site by James Wyant at http://wyant.opt-sci.arizona.edu/zernikes/zernikes.htm>, minus the piston term. Units are waves {at} 633nm. The site is interactive. Give it a try! The first three (2nd order) terms don't contribute to aberrations so leave those out. Royce removed the coma terms from his RMS computation and maybe from the map as well. Those are terms 6 and 7 (3rd and 4th "4th order" terms). Or, if you're too lazy to type in 20 some numbers here is my reconstruction of the wavefront (not as fancy but maybe more useful) As given by Royce (less the missing 10th & 12th(?) order terms): http://home.netcom.com/~mpeck1/astro/royce_wf.png> My estimate of the wavefront from James' foucault data and images (as reprocessed by me): http://home.netcom.com/~mpeck1/astro/mike_wf.png> James' original data (pooled into one big data set); [spherical terms only]: http://home.netcom.com/~mpeck1/astro/james_wf.png>. I don't think that 3rd "2nd order" term is of any particular use. Sorting it out isn't going to help you any. Steve Koehler, are you still with us?
