subject: what is a message

PM>> One of the guys at work runs an Amiga BBS (Ron Verstagen of 3:711/438)

PM>> and has received several messages about this from you. He was whingeing

PM>> about it to me today. Not really much he can do about it since he didn't

PM>> write the software and doesn't know how to contact the author.

PE> Small world! He's fixed it actually. He told me he doesn't have the

PE> source code, but he managed to hack it to put in his own process. I

PE> don't really know how he managed that.

He didn't mention what he did, but zapping the exe would probably be the
easiest way.

PE> I was thinking of writing a utility to fix up packets, for people

PE> who's mailprocessors don't do this already. However, it could be a

PE> bit dangerous if people run it on passthrough packets.

In what way is it dangerous?

PE> No-one has asked me for suggestions on what to do if there's no

PE> source code and no author support, so I don't have any live users to

 PE> get user-requirements from.

That's never stopped you before :-) Just write the thing and convince
people they need it.

PE> BTW, why on earth would Ron mention to you about messages about date

PE> formats? Did he know you pointed off here or something?

He knew I sometimes posted in AUST_C_HERE, and he'd seen your name there as
well. He was walking past my desk the other day and he stopped by and asked
if I knew you. Since my mind was on something else at the time, I said I
did. I don't normally admit to knowing you :-)

 PE> + Origin: none (3:711/934.9)

Very inventive :-)
