The problem with the GIMP and Windows Users is the interface is now a bunch 
of floating windows and it takes an excessively long time to load... I think 
it's really crappy on both these counts and that could be why it hasn't 
caught on much in Windows.

Also, instead of the KDE you might consider switching to GNOME like Linus 
did:)
