It turns out that hardcoding the TCP/IP4 setting to 192.168.1.111 and the
gateway to 192.168.1.1 has helped.

But this experience seems to reveal some serious weaknesses in networking.
It is too easy for anyone else with another wi-fi device to bring down the
DSL!

I am going to assume there is a flaw in the ADB P.DG A4001N router/DSL
modem that the internet provider gives its customers.
