Thankyou everyone who has written with help, both on and off list. No
doubt I'm asking for more.
Regarding 110 AC. With all the effort and expense of getting it off the
grid, the simple solution seemed to me to be batteries and an inverter, if
I ever need it. The plan is to use a deep cycle marine battery for power.
The story I'm telling is, charged by solar panels.

I've connected the two right angle to each other bores I made in the shed's
rebar and concrete pad.
I've ordered a 25 foot parallel data cable.
Two lengths of outdoor extension cord will feed low voltage power to the
pier. I measured less than half an ohm across any one line in the fifty
foot coil. I don't think it will be, and I hope the voltage drop never is,
a problem.
I'm running 1 1/2 inch ABS "conduit" down the trench. I changed
the right angle in the conduit layout to two 45s with a short length
between them.
I won't be able to fit the ABS through the bore in the shed pad. I'm not
sure what to do there but bore more.
The coupling for the equatorial head beckons.
