You're doing it wrong. Mackie consoles (all of 'em) are rated
past 60k on the top end, and I've got no reason to disbelieve that spec.
Greg overdesigns 'em that way to help stave off additive loss of high
end in systems. Say you've got ten pieces of gear in your signal path,
all rated to 20k. After summing together the frequency response of the
gear and connecting cable, you're going to choke your high end hard -
possibly as low as 16k.
Don't ask me - but Mackie tested this at length before freezing design
on his VLZ desks...

PS: You know what a Mackie "Rotopod" is? It's a piece of 14-ga stamped
steel that allows you to rotate the mixer pod on a CR-1604 so the jacks
point toward the front. When I bought my Rotopod, there were electronic
specs printed on the side of the box - FREQUENCY RESPONSE: DC to RADAR
