Yes, folks, Dustbin tekn0-L33tbjoi ####ed it right up again...

Dustbin's famous words in this summary are, "Your knowledge concerning
technical topics speaks volumes".

Original poster:

'I'm trying to format my hard drive with my recovery/ boot disk. I put the
CD in the drive (I made sure the CD drive was the primary in the BIOS setup)
restarted the computer but it will not go the recovery CD when prompted
during startup when it says "press any key to boot from CD". What gives?'

Dustbin misses the runway on his first attempt:

'See my reply further in the thread. It lists a few things you can try.
You can also substitute enter for spacebar. ctrl, alt and various other
special keys are not counted during that startup. I don't believe it
responds to esc either.'

Me to Dustbin: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Dustbin misses the runway again but fails to pull up in time, leaving a
trail of burning wreckage:

'And there is your problem. You ARE booting from the Cd but it will not
install. Correct? If SP2 is already on your machine you will need to
slipstream SP2 into your install CD.'

Me to Dustbin: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Dustbin, in flames, to me:

'Your knowledge concerning technical topics speaks volumes'

Me to OP:

'Erm... the dots you see are a countdown, indicating the keystrokes are
/not/ being seen. Do you, by any stretch of the imagination, have USB
keyboard? And if you do have a USB keyboard, is the BIOS option set on to
support legacy USB devices, by any stretch of the imagination?'

OP to me:

'I set the keyboard in the BIOS to legacy enabled. This allowed me to
finally boot up to the CD drive on start-up.'

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
