I'm using this line in my bat file for archiving......:
arj a -r -vav -jt -a1 -y -w%TEMP% %1.a01
So as you can see i am quite familiar with arj, i think :-)
I hoped that i could avoid this writing to the HD, and maintaining the CRC 
check.
Although that i do know, that incase anything goes wrong on the floppy, i do 
still have the temp file on the HD. But it won't help me if i am making multi
arcives.
By the way, why are you using "-V1440"..??
It will stop you, if you have a bad sector,( which does no harm ), or if you 
don't have a total empty floppy.
But maybe this is the idea :-)))))))))
The "-va" check the FREE space on the floppy, the last "v" makes a beep for 
disk replacement.
