Gentlemen,
I am not sure if this problem is related to the SP4 or because I may
have overwrote files when I installed it but since it is a new problem
you may want to check it out. This is also at your newsgroup for
feedback. I have an HP E60 with the internal tape drive and the Stac replica
software that says it runs with Netware. I installed the Replica SW
(it does not work and will not per Stac's web site) with my OS; Netware 5
Small Business or any other Netware 5. I uninstalled Replica. The HP
manual specifications for the server I found out are incorrect. I
ordered BE 8.5 and installed it while the server had Support pack 3
with the patch to 3.1 installed. The Backups, restores and Tape cataloging
worked fine from the server console and the workstation. This weekend
1/8/00 I installed the new Support pack 4 for Netware 5 and now the
workstation BE 8.5 program recieves these errors while opening and
trying to initialize the catalogs: "unable to relese a catalog lock"
twice once before I select the server and one after I select it and
"error initializing the catalogs" at the end. After that I can only
back up from the workstation; no restores or tape viewing. You are not
even given the option to login to the resources in the restore and no
catalogs show up on the Tapes list. Any ideas?
