 Well, how do, Nancy?

JB>>> Where do I get me one of them *Wizards* you speck of Miss
Nancy?
NB>> I think you probably have to luck into them...?
JB>> Guess I'll keep looking...And looking, and looking.

NB> Ya just never know... :)

I'm not going to say "box of chocolates"... Opps!

 NB>> (unrelated) things, too...
JB> L... I wasn't planning to return him as damaged goods I'll have you
 JB> know!

NB> Oh, I trusted not... but at the moment, he's having to do all the
NB> running I can't* do, with my broken ankle... also the cooking,
 NB> shopping, laundry, etc... :)

So I've heard. Things are getting better?

NB>> Perhaps your problem has also
NB>> already been worked out while I've been plodding along...?? :)
JB> Ya, right! Linux downloads files as read only, precluding any writing
JB> to that file. I likely have *just* enough knowledge to do something
 JB> about it, but... As
JB> I'm rarely on the DOS box these days, I should probably stop whining
 JB> about it here, though.

NB> Still behind (only 10-11 days at the moment, so that IS progress),
NB> but, in the meantime, I did ask the Wizard if he had any ideas, so, in
NB> case it STILL isn't solved, here's what he said (transcribed from my
NB> jotted notes when he was explaining things):

Thank the hubby for me. (And thanks for the loaner! ;-) I knew about the
'chmod' stuff, but 'umask' is a new one. Remember your first day on DOS?
I was more interested in imbedding the command into a script
(DOS=batch). You know, 'Dial board-get mail-change permissions-open
OLMR-...' Now that the HD is toast though, experimenting will have to wait.

NB> Now, don't go thinking that I'm the Linux guru anymore than I'm the
NB> DOS guru... I really am* only a sorcerer's apprentice, who can spout

But Miss Nancy... (Wish I had more Forest Gump quotes. Oh... Now we are
onto Harry Potter? |-)

NB> things one has told me, use the few magic spells I've been taught (and
NB> use often enough not to lose them), and have learned not to do anything
NB> I'm not POSITIVE I know how to reverse (learned the multiplying brooms
NB> lesson well )... But I DO have a good wizard around that can do
 NB> lots... :)

 NB> Hope this helps... :)

Good for a chuckle anyway. Do take care.

But wait... What am I supposed to do with all these friggin' brooms?!?!
