From: "Ariel M. Elam" Subject: Re: 230 Volts? Organization: Elam's Housing Rentals Hi John & the Reflector -- As a retired service technician for Amprite Elec Co. in Nashville, TN, I would install a 110/220 volt circuit (2 hot wires, 1 neutral, 1 ground). If in the future you needed 2 110 volt circuits it would be a matter of some minor changes. The cost will not be very much more. At 220 volts, there will be less power loss because of lower current with same resistance in the wire (E=IR). Also there will be less likelihood of heat being generated in the receptacle as the amp will draw only half the current at 220 volts(nominal). I hope this will help you to decide which way to go. I don't use an amp. 73, Ariel, K4AAL John Holmes wrote: > > Folks, I'm having a new circuit installed for my L-4B amp and have a choice > of using the standard 115 volts or having a 230 volt circuit installed.
