A report was recently released on 2 children of vegan mothers who were
breastfeeding -- while 2 hardly constitutes enough evidence to be
conclusive, it is widely suspected that the two babies brain abnormalities
were caused by the mothers diet not supplying enough B-12.

Pot is such a touchy subject... on the one hand I know ppl who've smoked it
for years with no (noticeable) ill effects, no gating themselves into harder
drugs, etc etc, and then I know those (my brother first among them) for whom
pot was a gateway drug, and which did ruin a large chunk of his life, and
has resulted in personality/brain changes -- he's slower than he was, he's
less emotive, less demonstrative, and there are hardcore scientific reasons
for that.

So I can sit here on one side of the issue and say adults should be able to
do what they want, legalize it (and tax holy hell out of it) and also be
sitting on the other side of the issue thinking in advance of all the ppl
who will try it once it's legal -- and how many of them will be devastated
by it. (or what it leads them into)

But then my opinion on the whole drug issue in our culture is out of step
with policy. These ppl don't need to be jailed -- they need medical help.
And if the government stepped in and took the money out of drugs, they
wouldn't have so many ppl pushing them. The War on Drugs has been a
collosal, unmitigated failure -- and always will be.

As to feminism... I used to think I wasn't one, because the only image I had
of it was a bunch of humorless women, dull in every aspect, screaming about
how oppressed they were by the evil paternalistic society we live in, and
how none of that would change until all men were cast down and chained in
the basement and Wimmin took over. Which to me sounded like trading one
oppression for another. But then I decided... hey, if I don't fit *that*
image of feminism.... what's my own? And that's really what a person should
do with every sort of ism... how much of it can you use in your life, how
much of it is largely junk, and then deal. The main problem is that there
seems to be a serious lack of critical thinking in so many areas of our
society... but then again, it's because of many of those uptight, humorless
women that I can vote, get paid equally for equal work, largely have control
over my own body, and am not expected to sit around at home covered in a
veil, barefoot, uneducated and at the whim of my husband or other male
family member. So....

LOL none of which I'd argue with :)
