There's one big flaw in your statements... Kahless *NEVER* appeared in TOS.
What Kirk and co. saw was an image constructed from their mental conceptions
of Kahless. The Lincoln simulacrum explained this with regards to himself.
Naturally, the Lincoln, Colonel Green and Surak images were accurate since
Kirk and Spock were familiar with visual records of them, but for Kahless all
they had to go on was imagination, which was shaped by the fact that Kirk and
co. had only ever seen the smooth-headed Kilngons.
