mmmhummm... i was wrong actually... there's really 48 slots... 

  12 for DOS archivers
  12 for OS/2 archivers
  12 for DOS unarchivers
  12 for OS/2 unarchivers

some systems, like mine (and i guess yours) do unarchive the mail bundles
before the tosser gets to them but this is so we can perform other tasks on
the PKTs before they get tossed... in my case, it is so i can run PKTDATE
on them to fix bad dates in the PKTs... i used to run GMD and NOBOGUS on
them in the past...
