Standard USA color code:

Red - PTT
White - audio
Shield - audio (and sometimes PTT) ground
Black - (optional) PTT ground.

If there is a black wire for PTT ground, it should be connected with
the shield to ground at the mic plug.  Import mic cables  will most
likely NOT adhere to this color code.  A TUG8/D104 manufactured for the
CB market will be configured with black as an RX ground (for electronic
switched CBs), and shield is common (USA codeing).  There may be other
colors, or the colors will vary if the cable is an import.  Remove the
baseplate from the mic stand, there should be a wiring diagram attached
to the bottom of the baseplate.

As others have said, you will not need the transformer.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, IMHO the preamp in the T-UG8
stand is an abomination created to allow CBers to overdrive their
radios, and should be removed and reconfigured with a hammer.  I've
used the D104 on several ham rigs (TR7, HW101, GT550A, SB104A), and
even a couple of CB rigs, and always had enough level without the
preamp.

Just my opinion, FWIW.
