Easy, you should watch TOS *first*, and then complain about inconsistencies
that TNG era Trek introduces
1) Why they look weird:
Watch "Trials and Tribble-ations" for Worf's explaination.
A) Simple answer - they didn't have the money to make them look good
(That's why they used Klingons, because Romulans were
too expensive)
B) Better Trek answer - they used cosmetic surgery because they did not
think that the humans were honourable enough to be
honoured with their true appearance.
(We know that they have the ability to do great
plastic surgery because of Darvin the Klingon
in human-form)
C) the wrong answer - they're human/klingon hybrids, or another race of
Klingon, not the Imperial Klingons of the
bumpy foreheads.
Why this is wrong: Three klingons from TOS showed up on DSN
They looked exactly like every other klingon
in TNG era.
D) the other answer - something horrible occured between TOS and ST1 to
the Klingons. This brought about changes to all
Klingons. (This is why Kahless looks different in
TOS and TNG)
As to honour:
A) simple answer - Roddenberry didn't like the portrait of the
Klingons from TOS, because they were "all evil", so
he added better qualities.
B) better Trek answer - The Klingons did not think the Earther scum
were good enough for honour. They changed
their mind later.
Why this is wrong: Kahless in TOS is different from the
Kahless of TNG.
