GC> I am an avid Science Fiction fan as well. My first introductions to
GC> computers were through stories. Looking around a
GC> home office with fax machines, computers and
GC> telecommuting, I don't think my time reading was
GC> wasted.
I think the time I spent reading science fiction as a kid was one of the more
valuable things I did with my time. It opened my mind to possibilities.
Given the rigid, far right religious thinking of my natural parents, I don't
think I would have been able to cope with the world as it is now if the
groundwork for possibilities had not been laid down by the books I read. The
sense of wonder not only gives life richness and joy, it also makes it
possible to look at business possibilites from new, unexpected angles. Most
of my friends in my own age group are technophobes. I love the new
technologies - I not only live off them, I play with them for the sheer
wonder of it all.
GC> That sounds intriguing. I find the idea of
GC> "virtual companies" very interesting. Being able
GC> to tap talented people regardless of where they
GC> live without the costs of bricks and mortar sounds
GC> exciting.
I find it a pleasure as well as being profitable. We sell nothing (pixels -
radio waves)
to no-one (people we'll never meet in person) and money keeps appearing in
the bank account. Virtual reality is us!
