From: "Frank Ward" To: "Russell Jocoy" Cc: Reply-To: "Frank Ward" Russell, You said, it's slow polishing is a plus as to figuring toward the finished parob. , as it moves the surface slowly as to give you "time" to make corrections. Although it is very messy it is a fine polish.. Yesterday I finished a 12" that had been polished with CEO well past the "good polish" stage. As I neared completion of figuring (within a 1/10wave of my goal) I switched to black rouge, the same as red but finer. It took several sessions to get all three figures in the place I wanted them so I could use a full sized lap to bring them all in at once....and during this time the luster on the surface increased at least 50% with the black rouge, probably 30 minutes of actual contact. It is terribly messy, but worth the trouble in the finer stages of figuring. I'll know for sure how well I ended up when the clouds clear....but Fig45 says 1/23wave. Not too shabby after two years away. In the rarified atmosphere after 1/10th wave it becomes a lot of instinct and a lot less "follow the rules."
