Hi, Fred!
FR> JM> Why they don't take them, I don't know. Do mystery fans
FR> JM> buy fewer used hardcovers than other used book buyers?
FR> FR>I find that is true for all sorts of hardback fiction, not just
FR>mysteries.
FR> FR>The usedbook stores now will take only out-of-print or old hb, or new
FR>ones
FR> FR>if the pb versions haven't come out yet. Once the pb version appears
on
FR> FR>the stands, the stores here won't take the hb versions.
FR> RJ> This doesn't seem to be true in Boulder County, Colorado. "New" HBs
FR> RJ> are moving briskly in the used BS I go to.
FR>Is that after the pb version has come out? Around here I can sell hbs
until
FR>the pb version comes out, then I find it hard to get rid of. Exceptions
FR>would be if there's a strong demand for the book.
Well, I'm not in the business but it doesn't seem to make much of a
difference here in what is stocked. I, as a buyer, will often buy a
mystery in pb first then buy a good condition hb if I really liked it.
