My musical tastes are varied, so selecting pieces for my system is
often a real Easter egg hunt. I love classical of all types, female vocals of
the Tori Amos and (old) Mariann Faithful, folk music of the original Peter.
Paul and Mary before they became so politically correct that they no longer
"belt out" the harmony, and progressive jazz/new age. Being a Viet Nam era
rock junky, I also enjoy hard and "acid rock" of the 60s and 70s. So in
selecting a system or piece for my system I find that what is great for one
is terrible to so-so for the other.
I 86'd my turntable some years ago....OK, so I am not a visionary.
And, I have yet to replace it. My amps are solid state as is my CD player.
Although I am not a gadget freak, I have put an X10-D (tubed output) inline
with my Creek CD player and it is worked miracles. It was well worth the
$200 investment! I am paying closer attention to turntables for sale locally,
but believe if I did that I would have to invest in an inexpensive tubed
integrated amp like the JoLida or Golden Tube. That would be the best of
both worlds and save me a lot of problems. A small simple system for vinyl
and a "cahoonies to the wall" solid state for the remainder and Home Theater
apps.
Home Theater hardware requirements make vinyl enjoyment on the same
system near impossible....at least the best I can figure.
Your speakers are excellent for the music and type (vinyl) that you
listen to. With their relatively high efficiency, they would be an excellent
match to tubed gear also (Note: Tube seed quietly planted). Now all we need
is that black Publishers Clearinghouse van to park in front of our homes in
the next couple weeks!
Cheers, John
