I have a rather eserteric question, which I hope is not 'off topic' at least
not too far.

Why are so many BBS operators so afraid of the internet?

Some fidonet Sysops are even more afraid then many others. I find that sence
I got an internet account I rarely call 'out of town' bbses but I call thoes
local to me about as much as I always have. I know, as my cousin is a
sysop/hub in Fidonet, that to some extent fidonet and the Internet seem to
have some rivalry. But for the most part they seem to compliment each other.

I used to use my cousin's fidonet access to send email but as more and more
are subscribing to the internet - and it's very easy to send messages to
exactly who you need to in a particular company I've pretty much quit using
Fidonet for mail. But use it for the message bases and to share with the
outher members of our region.

to me the Internet is more for the exchange of mail, plus a little 'graphic'
stuff. And the local BBS is more of a personal 'family' 'freind' thing.
Whereas the Internet is mostly business?

comments?
