Once again not answering my question really! :-)

A smartphone *isn't* practical.  Not to mention that "kodi" or
anything isn't going to be able to sort my music, much of it hasn't
much metadata with it, the metadata that there is simply the directory
hierarchy.

I want a keyboard/remote with buttons and a screen larger than a
smartphone.
