Okay, I've got a new and improved version posted as:

This latest version now builds the file area html files along with an
overall summary / master index file.  Pretty rudamentary at this point, but
it seems to work.

Looks okay, and seems to work.  Very similar to what I've come up with so
far.  I guess great minds really do think alike.
