Subject: Acker Freeman & the SIx Driver
Per a message here a few days ago about how Al Acker's company, Acker
Freeman Associates, had purchased the rights to Successware's SIx
Driver, I emailed Al and asked him. Here's his reply, posted with his

Ray,
We have picked up rights to some products but the six driver is NOT
one of them.... we just wanted the source so we could fix some bugs
and produce a good 5.2 lib for our use. (and I told Jeff we'd do a 5.3
port so we could get it).
Alaska is doing their own in-house CDX driver...(which is in testing
now) Comix is also getting ported to Xbase++. So with luck we won't
need to port the six driver. (If there is a demand for it... we could
do it...but then we'd make a deal with Jeff to sell it and split it with
him....(since S'ware still owns the rights)
Hope this clears up the picture for you.
Al
So, they have licensed the source code, and they're the ones creating
the version 3.5 for Clipper 5.3.
