Re: My TR7 50 KHz spurs
Replacement of the 220uF capacitor (C2108), as well as all other
elecrolytics, on the power wupply board seems to have resolved the
problem. C2112 was 22uF on the board, shown as 10uF on the schematic.
22uF caps were replaced with 33uF because that is what I had on hand in
new caps. I noted an extra set of solder pads next to (and in parallel
with) C2103, so I installed a second 10uF there. I also installed the
470uF shown on the schematic from +10 to ground, under the chassis, as
mentioned in a note from (IIRC) John Loughmiller.
I drove the radio out to my place of work (Telex, formerly Hy-Gain)
yesterday and parked the car next to the HF rotatable log periodic that
is slated to be taken down this week as it has been sold to US Towers.
I listened for the Drake net, but could barely hear net control through
static crashes and noise, but got a glowing audio report from Martin in
Aruba on 17 meters. The rig performed well on the big antenna despite
less than ideal band conditions. I may try it again this weekend if
for some reason the tower crew can't begin work this week.
