I'll try the 10w-40 synthetic on my next change.  

Would 20w-50 be too thick and cause a possible gasket blowout?  I used that
type of oil in the old Malibu and my daughter's car to "slow
down" the oil leaking.  The thicker it was, the less oil would leak
out.
