Hey Russell! When I did a search on the internet for potential candidates I found a document that stated that even if you know the manufaturer's serial/model/whatever #'s that isn't always an indication of what the manufacture used on that particular card/interface/whatever since they often change parts in midstream without any change in id's to reflect a change in chipsets used in the particular part's construction. Thus it isn't always the retailer's fault that their salespeople are clueless or even clued but simply don't know the correct answer and they are more then likely getting the same information as you are. RT> just plug RT> them in and install the drivers from the CD-ROM, not likely to occur RT> to them RT> that, some people run OS'es that are not M$ sourced ... :-) They are more aware of that issue these days but that doesn't guarentee anything. Without being able to track a model number wrt the required chipsets it makes it EXTREMELY difficult to make a decision on the consumer's part no matter how educated they are as to what they REALLY want. Quite pathetic what is going on these days. :::sigh::: RT> You are most welcome, will await your report ... We're still getting our respective acts together but have actually gotten it to work to our liking. At the moment Paul is having difficulties at his end relating to a motherboard and not because of the wireless card itself. Despite that, it can and does work. Also I still need to get the little guy 'finished' which should happen by the end of the month. :::knock on wood::: Life is good, Maurice --- Msged/LNX 6.2.0* Origin: The Pointy Stick Society XXIX - Only one I in teamwork (1:261/38.9) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 261/38 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
