I've got a friend with a well-equipped machine shop who likes to morph
brass. That's one of the things he's tried out.
First he made a tool that screws into the spent primer and pulls it out.
Then he drills a small hole up through the primer pocket and reams out
the primer pocket to boxer dimensions. At that point, he's ready to
reload.
The brass is heavy enough on the base that nothing gets too thin, but he
does wind up with an oversized flash hole. The two holes from the berden
design get joined by the center hole that he drills.
