Replying to a message from andrew clarke 3:633/267 to All, About fax + bbs, On Thu May 05 2005 ac> Possibly opening a can of worms, but can anyone here recommend some ac> free software for Linux (or FreeBSD) that will set up a fax modem to ac> answer fax calls, but if the call was not a fax, fall back to a ac> FidoNet mailer, to work as a FidoNet node? I'd like to run this on ac> a Pentium 133 with 64 Mb RAM and a 1 Gb HDD. This will be the PC's ac> sole function. FidoNet mail processing, fax viewing, etc. will be ac> done by another machine on my network. Sorry about the long quote, if Binkley has been ported to Linux it should do the trick very well indeed. I am not sure if BGFAX has been ported, the author might release the code for porting if one can catch up to him. The source for Binkley is freely available. The Husky project may also have something out there that will do the trick. If memory serves PMFAX for linux is freeware, but probably will not do the trick. Hope this helps. Keep us posted. We are a fine board trying to make it better. http://www.pris.bc.ca/ghannah ghannah{at}pris.bc.ca Cheers!
