subject: Is this possible under Linux?

Hello Michael,

MB> I'm thinking of this setup for a telnetable BBS:

MB> Linux native front end ---> DOS BBS software running under DOSEMU

I think this could be done with inet.d. I have run Maximus/Linux
from inet.d before. I never got the thing to work multinode and
so it would recycle after someone logged off. I think that could
be done but it would take quite a complicated runbbs.sh. There
must be a telnetd also for linux but I don't have one here I'm
sure there is one on the cd's if I looked for it.

MB> Do you think this is possible? If so, can you give me hints on how the
MB> linux native front end pass the proper settings to the DOS BBS
MB> software? Also, can you recommend me a free Linux native front end?

I'm sure it is, but the fact you want to run a dos program will
complicate matters but I know a lot of folks run dos doors with
dosemu, so if you can figure out how that is done..

Have you looked at Synchronet? There is a linux native version
that you can build yourself (get the source from cvs). It's builds
without any further ado and just works, and has support for dos
doors under dosemu.

 Ttyl :-),
         Al
