Yep.  That is exactly what I was thinking.

Sounds perfect except that in my situation the fix might come from a point
for an area I already have, thus no need to bother the uplink.  So far
we're on the same wavelength here.

Also it is a good start towards a Perl FTN module seeing the format of the
areafix is MSG.  I think this is a great idea.  Care to help?

Here on the west coast of Canada it is either Telus or cable for high speed
internet service.  Where I am specifically, it is only cable and it is
three times the cost you ask above.  No special deals for Linux users and
absolutely no support seeing they have no idea about Unixie stuff.  I'm on
my own here.
