Replying to a message of mark lewis to Ross Cassell: BK>>> How can you justify even posting that? RS>> It's all he's got, since his political beliefs are bankrupt. RC>> and how has yours enriched you, you still get a monthly check from RC>> the taxpayers, do you not? ml> as does almost every retired and/or injured veteran but i don't see ml> anyone complaining about those payments... Not openly. Some do complain about military retirement, especially those of us who retired before age 40 (I turned 39 the week after I retired). Note that there are those in congress who oppose it, however quietly. And note that the congress has been quietly removing military 'benefits' for decades. Even active duty military members don't get free health care any longer, they must pay their 'Tricare' premiums before they can be seen in a 'military treatment facility.' Years ago I found that shopping in the PX and commissary wasn't all that much of a good deal and haven't set foot in either one at Offutt AFB for thirty years or more. Note that military retirement is another huge unfunded liability, just like Socialist Security. The salient difference is that military retirement is a contractual obligation in return for n years of service. In the case of Socialist Security one is *required* to pay into it for at least ten calendar years in order to qualify for benefits. There are no such requirements to get welfare payments. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 331 14/400 19/75 34/999 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 SEEN-BY: 230/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 5030/1256 @PATH: 300/3 116/901 3634/12 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
