Hey Benny! Jun 30 22:16 07, Benny Pedersen wrote to Maurice Kinal: BP> is that not just gentoo with gcc multilib glibc ? Nope. Absolutely nothing to do with either gentoo or multilib although last year in June I started out the 64-bit build from a dual p3 system (32-bit). The dual p3 couldn't run anything built using that but when moved to an actual 64-bit capable system it did work. I then reversed the role since that system (AMD Sempron) could test out pure 32-bit builds as well as chroot into them to ensure no leakage from the main rootfs. Now I have an Intel em64t doing that job and it builds for a 486 (32-bit) as well as for the Sempron and itself (64-bit). BP> best is always home made anyway, not just gentoo :-) I agree. BP> well ubuntu is free and users can request dvd now, to remove download BP> costs I don't use DVD's. I gave the last ROM drive to my neighbour as it wasn't getting any use. I've been installing directly from drives for almost a decade now and it has been at least two years since the last time I even used a CD, nevermind a DVD. I just finished doing everything I plan to do on this machine (em64t) and it still comes in under 500M with rootfs and two fully functional development systems, pure 32-bit and pure 64-bit. Works great!!!
