Can't help you there. Many trunked systems are "hunters" which means
they select a frequency based upon the users and what is available. What
might be the frequency pair this time wont be the same next time, so a
canner
wont help. Further, some trunked systems are digital which means the signal
is compressed into a digital signal which can not be deciphered by a scanner
which is designed for analog signals.
The State of N.H. has just awarded a bid for a statewide, multi-agency
trunked digital VHF system. It is so new that FCC has not released the
frequencies and licenses for it yet. It is modeled after the 800 MHz systems
but is not restricted by the finicky "line-of-sight" requirements of ultra
high frequencies. For us to use UHF-HIGH with our mountainous terraing we
would have to practically put a tower on every tree top and and mountain.
A cost, of which, this stingey state would not go for. The VHF system is
much more tolerant of mountains and obstacles. It has been tested in one
of our counties for about a year now by Motorola and it has been sucessful.
