that is what the "capture port" option is for... i've not messed
with it under XP but use it all the time on w98se... as long as the
printer's "port" shows up in the list or can be entered, it
should work... currently, my capture's are to

  \\BEEHIVE4\HP990CSE
  \\DARKTOWER-W\LP1

the names after the single \ are the names that i gave the printers when i
shared them... the above darktower-w designation is not a port but is
actually to the linux printer server's first configured printer... whatever
printer i capture on the linux box to LP1 is where the output goes... i've
used this trick to do postscript printing without a postscript printer
because linux can reprocess printer output and convert it as needed ;)
